RETIRED GREYHOUNDS
It’s very hard to not get attached to these beautiful animals and I guess this is why we have 4 pets that live at the house and come inside each night to watch TV with us. I am sure this number will only continue to increase!

Once our dogs have retired from racing, we do everything we can to ensure that they are placed with the adoption program so they find a loving home as a pet.

Firstly, we spell the dogs outside in the lock ups for a couple of weeks and then introduce them to Bernie and Charlie, Michelle’s little boys!

Charlie is the most placid of them, so he is the first to be introduced. If the greyhound appears to be a little to boisterous, then we bring out Bernie who has “Little Man Syndrome” and likes to think he is boss, growling and putting the greyhound in their place.

Over a period of days, we assess their behaviour with the little dogs and determine if we think they will pass the GAP assessment program and then we book them in.

We are pleased to say that only one of our dogs has not passed the assessment and we believe this is greatly due to the fact that we spend this extra time with them getting used to Bernie and Charlie.

Most people that have adopted our dogs have kept in touch. We have received many wonderful emails with pictures and phone calls from new owners telling us how happy they are with their new family member which is always so lovely to hear.

For those that have adopted our dogs, we offer boarding if they would like to go on holidays. This way we get to see our old dogs and they can peacefully go away and enjoy their holidays knowing their dogs are in good care.
