Introduction
If ever a dog was bred to be a Group 1 winner it was "Meticulous". His sire "Brett Lee" was a multi Group 1 winning superstar out of the 2003 Group 1 Laurels and Group 2 W.A Oaks winner Dance Portrait. The three amassing a staggering prizemoney figure of just under $800,000 AUD.
His dam line is one of Australia's finest which has continuously produced feature race winners, track record holders, stud dogs and high class brood bitches for decades.
On the race track Meticulous was one of the best sprinters of his time. He raced the best and beat the best in a sensational era of greyhound racing. He defeated the likes of Slater, Betty's Angel, Shanlyn Prince and Run's House to name just a few. His box manners were near faultless and once he hit the front, he was never run down.
A winner of the 2007 Group 1 Silver Chief a race which is synonymous for producing champion stud dogs like Chariot Supreme, Ginger and Awesome Assassin who have all won the race. Meticulous was undefeated through the series even though he suffered a serious wrist injury in the final.
His biggest career win was the Cox Plate of horse racing, the Top Gun. A race where the best eight greyhounds from around Australia are put to the test in one hot field. Meticulous exploded from the boxes running 5.04 17.72 29.88 Best.
His third and final feature win was the 2007 Group 2 Traralgon Cup. Once again Meticulous showed his courage under terrible track and weather conditions to win again.
He also finished third in the Group 1 Winter Cup at Albion Park, fourth in the Temlee and was a near on certainty beaten in the Group 1 Paws Of Thunder at Wentworth Park where he finished fourth.
With over 140 bitches mated already in his first season at stud and fantastic break in reports coming in constantly, Meticulous certainly looks set for stardom.
